Powertrain, surface-drive, propeller, electronics and composite expertise focused on dependable offshore performance.
A British-led international racing programme bringing together engineering ambition, world-record experience and the specialist knowledge already proven aboard Tommy One.
Mark Wilson is an engineer with a lifelong passion for high-performance machinery, motorsport and engineering excellence. Beginning as an electrical engineer, his career developed across low-voltage systems through to 11,000-volt installations before expanding into complex electrical and mechanical engineering.
Since entering the wind-energy industry in 2010, Mark has specialised in the installation, maintenance and repair of large-scale wind turbines. Heavy lifting, mechanical repairs and advanced composite work in demanding environments have shaped an approach built on safety, precision and reliability.
Tommy One is the culmination of that experience: a hands-on racing programme led by Mark as team owner and principal, combining engineering and preparation with his role as driver at the helm.
“The aim is not simply to race a boat. It is to build one of Britain’s leading offshore racing teams.”
Maurizio Schepici is a world champion and one of the defining figures in Tommy One’s modern story. After entering into powerboat racing in 2007, he won a world endurance offshore title in 2010 and finished second in the V1 World Championship at Key West in 2012.
His record with Tommy One spans UIM world-record runs from Crotone and San Felice Circeo to Messina–Vulcano–Messina and Napoli–Capri. He also finished second overall in the 2021 Cowes–Torquay–Cowes and has received CONI Gold Medals for Athletic Merit in 2010, 2018 and 2022.
Maurizio’s honours include the Leone d’Oro, Palma d’Oro and appointment as an Ambassador of Sport for Peace, the RAI Cavallo d’Oro and the title Cavaliere del Leone d’Oro. His continued involvement retains the operating judgement, preparation discipline and competitive experience behind Tommy One’s world-record programme.
In the next chapter, Maurizio brings continuity between Tommy One’s Italian heritage and its British-led future. His knowledge of the boat’s behaviour, preparation and record-running set-up will support testing, race development and a proposed programme of UIM world-record attempts.
The name Tommy One also carries a personal meaning. Maurizio named the boat in memory of his Cane Corso, Tommy—turning a private tribute into one of offshore racing’s most distinctive identities.
Martino Cama, Tommy One’s chief mechanical specialist, will continue his work ensuring Tommy One is race-ready. His in-depth knowledge of the boat and its Seatek engines ensures reliability from the first test.
Tommy One is being structured as a serious international race operation—British-led, strengthened by proven Italian experience and united by one performance standard.
